PSNI crestPOLICE are investigating an attack on a man in Derry which they describe as a “sectarian hate crime.”

The victim sustained injuries to his face when he was assaulted by two men in the Caw Mews/Nelson Drive area in the Waterside area of the city in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Investigating officer Constable Graeme Reynolds has appealed to anyone who may have witnessed incident or anyone who had any information to contact police at Strand Road on the non-emergency number 101.

“Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111,” added Constable Reynolds.
