SINN Féin’s Raymond McCartney has welcomed a pay increase for health and social care staff announced by the Health Minister Michelle O’Neill.
The Foyle MLA said: “I welcome the announcement from my party colleague and Health Minister Michelle O’Neill that health and social care staff will receive a one per cent pay rise.
“More than 55,000 workers across the north will benefit from this announcement.
“Despite significant financial pressures brought about by the austerity agenda of the Tory government at Westminster, Minister O’Neill has worked hard to ensure that our health care workers are recognised.
“Health workers play a key role in our society and this pay award is fully deserved.
“It is also a further indication of Sinn Féin’s commitment to support health care workers and ensure they receive a fair wage.”
