A CHARITY night in memory of the young Derry nun killed when a massive earthquake hit Ecuador is to be held later this month.
Sister Clare Theresa Crockett was one of six people killed when a school collapsed in April during the disaster in Playa Prieta.
Following her death, her family faced a long wait to bring her remains home due to the massive devastation caused by the disaster.
The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust, the charity set up to aid Irish families bring home the remains of loved ones who die abroad, helped in her repatriation.
Sr Clare, from Iona Park, Brandywell, was laid to rest in Derry City Cemetery following Requiem Mass in St Columba’s Church, Long Tower, over two weeks after she was killed.
The upcoming charity night is taking place in the Delacroix on Buncrana Road on Friday, 22 July.
It is being held in aid of the Kevin Bell Trust.
Colin Bell and his family set up the charity in memory of his 26-year-old son Kevin, who died in a suspected hit-and-run in New York in 2013.
The charity night will be hosted by Micky Doherty with entertainment by The Real Thing, Micky and Danika, and DJ Jim Healy. .

The 33-year-old had been working at the school with the Home of the Mother Order.
She was trying to lead six young Ecuadorian postulants to safety when a stairwell collapsed in the building.
Her death and that of other nuns still resonated within their Home of the Mother order.
