SINN Fein councillor Sandra Duffy has condemned those behind a viable explosive device found in Derry at the weekend.
Police discovered the improvised explosive device during a search of the great Galliagh area on Saturday.
The PSNI said it was part of an “ongoing operation against violent dissident republicans” in the city.
Commenting on the bomb device discovery, Cllr Duffy said: “The actions of those involved in leaving this device are to be condemned outright.
“There is no logic to this act.
“Those behind it need to realise there is no support for this type of action.”
During the operation, a 48-year-old man was arrested in the Creggan area on Friday evening.
He was later released from the serious crime suite in Belfast unconditionally.
