SINN Fein MEP Martina Anderson has met with the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz to discuss the impact of the EU referendum.
Ms Anderson said: “I met with the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz to talk about the potential impact of the EU referendum on Ireland.
“I made it clear to President Schulz that the majority of people in the north voted to remain in the EU and that must be respected.
“We also discussed the impact being dragged out of the EU by the right wing of the British Tory party would have on our universities, small businesses, infrastructure, agriculture and continuing efforts to build the all-Ireland economy.
“We also discussed the need for reform of the EU institutions.
“President Schulz and I agreed to keep in touch over this important issue.
“I will be endeavouring to meet other EU leaders in the time ahead.”
