DERRY City return to action tonight (kick off 7.45 pm) against struggling Longford Town at the Brandywell.
The Candy Stripes have not been in action since July 1 when they suffered a 5-0 home drubbing by league leaders Dundalk.
And manager Kenny Shiels is expecting a tough game against Town tonight, but will also be hoping his team can get back to winning ways and keep in contention for a top flight sport.
Earlier in the season, at the City Calling Stadium, Derry secured a point thanks to Patrick McClean’s wonder strike.
And although Town are sitting at the bottom of the table, Shiels knows it’s going to be a hard encounter.
“To be honest it’s a tough game and we know that; they are fighting for their lives so we have to make sure that we are ready for it,” stated Shiels.
“They were unlucky not to get a point against Dundalk recently, they got three goals at Dundalk, so we know it’s going to be very hard for us.”
The Brandywell men will be without skipper Ryan McBride through suspension.
Gareth McGlynn continues to miss out with a hamstring problem.
On the plus side Shaun Patton should return to the squad.
