THE Public Prosecution Service has confirmed high-profile Derry republican Tony Taylor has no case to answer.
The 48-year-old was detained by police in Derry last October 17.
He was interviewed over two days at Musgrave Street Station about alleged Republican activity.
Solicitor Aiden Carlin confirmed: “Our client was unconditionally released the following day pending a report to the PPS who have now directed no prosecution.”
But despite not facing any charges, Tony Taylor remains incarcerated in Maghaberry prison.
He was returned to prison last year on the orders of the then Secretary of State Theresa Villiers for alleged breaches of his release licence.
But no evidence has put to him or his legal team about what offences he was alleged to have committed that warranted his return to jail.
A campaign has been set up to have him released.
