DETECTIVES in Derry are on the trail of a man over an armed robbery in the city centre last night.
The suspect, who was armed with an iron bar, walked into an off-licence in Sackville Street around 10 pm and demanded cash from staff.
A small sum of cash was handed over.
Fortunately, no staff were injured in the hold up.
The raider then fled on foot and police are studying CCTV footage in a bid to catch him.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Richard Donnell said the suspect is described as being around 5’8” tall and of medium build.
He was wearing a white, red and navy coloured hooded top, black bottoms and black trainers.
The detective has appealed to anyone with any information about the incident to contact detectives at Strand Road on the 101 non-emergency number, quoting reference 1462 19/07/16.
