BANK OF Ireland is to close two branches in Co Derry and one in Co Tyrone in a cost-cutting drive.
In total eight branches in the North of Ireland will shut with 54 staff being made redundant.
The branches to close in Co Derry are Draperstown and Maghera.
The Castlederg branch in Tyrone is also to shut.
The other branches closing are in Antrim, Castlereagh, Belleek, Newtownards and Donegall Square South, Belfast.
The bank said the branches did not do sufficient business to sustain them in the long-term.
It said there would be no compulsory redundancies and all staff would have the opportunity for redeployment.
The Financial Services Union said the move was “regrettable and irresponsible.”
“The decision to close branches is not taken lightly, and we understand that it will be disappointing for those customers who use them,” the bank’s Sean Sheehan said.
“A key priority will be to ensure customers understand the alternative arrangements available, and to maintain continuity of customer service.”
