A FUNDRAISING night was held last night to help raise money to help support the parents of little lad James McBride.
Scores of people gathered at The Pitchers Bar and Restaurant.
James is only 14 weeks old and has spent the majority of his life in hospital.
He was fitted with a tracheostomy tube to help him breathe a few weeks after he was born and has since suffered a number of serious health problems.
James will need constant care, and the family are doing their best to ensure that his life will be as comfortable as possible.
He was being cared for at Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
But has recently been transferred to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry to be closer to Annemarie, Kevin and his big sister Anna.
James will be travelling to London tomorrow, Sunday, July 23.
He will undergo major open heart surgery on Tuesday.
Garbhanb Boyle has set up a Crowdfunding page to help James’s parents.
He set his target at £1,000.
By this morning over £2,000 has raised for the McBride family and money is still coming in.
And whenever a Derry child is sick or in need of help Creggan’s James McClean, who plies his football trade at West Brom in England, always digs deep.
He has personally donated £670 towards the McBridefund – a marvellous gesture from the lad who always does his city proud both on and off the pitch.
Said Garbhanb: “Wee James has been through so much already in his life, help us in making his life a little bit easier.
We have created this page as not everyone can attend the fundraiser.
“All donations, no matter the amount will be greatly appreciated.”
The wee mite’s parents are delighted with the donations.
Annemarie said: “Thank you so much to everyone who has given us & James, all your well wishes, prayers and donations.
“We are so overwhelmed by all the support we have got from our family, friends and all of you amazing people of Derry.
“You are all so generous.
“Thank you so so much. xx”
And dad Kevin added on the Crowdfunding Page: “Thank you soooooo much everybody for your umbelievable generosity..
“We are just overwhelmed by the support we have received.”
We all wish Kevin, Annemarie and wee James all the best for next week and hope the operation is a huge success.
