FESTIVAL fever is in the air and music lovers in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area are reminded that the Derg Fest is taking place in Castlederg this weekend.
The festival started on Friday and will run today and until tomorrow, Sunday, July 24.
Among the music acts performing at the Derg Fest 2016 is Nathan Carter.
Huge crowds will turn out to see him when he headlines tonight, Saturday, July 23.
The Logues and the Four of Us take to the stage on Sunday evening.
Last night dance act Dave Pierce and Agnell kicked off the festival in front of a big crowd.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council Alderman Hilary McClintock says following on from the success of the Foyle Maritime Festival, locals are keen to continue enjoying outdoor events and the Derg Fest is the perfect event to continue with those celebrations.
The Mayor said the Derg Fest has something for everyone and the music line up satisfies all music tastes and covers all genres.
Encouraging people to attend, the Mayor said weekend weather conditions are promising and the music line-up is fantastic.
“This is another great local festival featuring a variety of music acts and events to suit every member of the family. I wish the organisers every success and hope the weather stays fine for the weekend,” she said.
Tickets for the event are available via the website www.dergfest.co.uk and are priced as follows – Saturday £20 and Sunday £15.
Buses are available from Derry, Omagh, Strabane and Enniskillen.
