ANTI-SOCIAL elements are thumbing their noses at a new residents group in Derry by continuing its crime wave.
Ballymagroarty Community Empowerment was set up last week in an effort to rally residents of the estate together to stand up to those behind a crime wave.
But the criminals lurking about the area have stuck two fingers up to BCE and are still making life miserable for residents.
BCE are undaunted and are continuing to watch out for thieves, car criminals, house breakers and drug peddlers on the estate.
A spokesperson said: “A few residents had a walk about there was reports of anti-social behavior had taken place.
“We retrieved six bongs an empty diazepan strip all in areas where children play and a burnt out area behind the community centre with broken bottles in & around the burnt area of grass.
“There was a group of young girls were playing only yards from the that area… 1 of the bongs found directly outside homes.”
In a further development, BCE say there was an attempted break-in of a house at Dunluce Court last night.
“The tenant was at home and the person was half way in the window when he was startled.
“Another break-in has also occurred in the Ennis Place area where items including an XBox 1 and laptop were stolen.
“Anyone approached to buy these items let us know,” say BCE.
They have asked residents to be their guard and to ensure their properties are locked at all times.
Anyone who needs the help of BCE can contact them on their Facebook page.
