THIS is the scene of the North West’s latest road tragedy.
Three young people perished in the overnight crash on the back road between Drumkeen and Letterkenny at Trentaboy at 1 am.
The three young people, who were in two different cars, all knew each other.
Another young person was seriously injured in the smash and has been taken to Letterkenny University Hospital.
Gardai are now investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.
The road is narrow and is used by many as an alternative route into and out of Letterkenny via the Oldtown.
The latest crash means that a shocking FIVE young people have now lost their lives on Donegal’s roads in less than 24 hours.
Letterkenny men Barney McGinley and Dermot Boyle died when their car was involved in a head-on collision with a van on the dual carriageway outside Letterkenny in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Why the men were travelling on the wrong side of the road is one of the key questions being asked by Garda investigators.
