COPS drafted in the PSNI helicopter last night with its thermal image camera to help catch dangerous car criminals.
The PSNI in Foyle say: “A vehicle failed to stop on Friday night for Police and was seen to be driving dangerously around the city.
“This vehicle was abandoned and the occupants made off from officers.
“With help from our helicopter, officers from Foyleside & The Moor Neighbourhood Policing Team and LPT were able to locate and arrest two people for a number of driving offences.
“There is no place for this kind of reckless behaviour in our community.”
In recent weeks, areas of Derry have been plagued with incidents of car crime – from cars being attacked to cheap run arounds hurtling through the city and estates.
Other cars have been taken off the roads for no insurance and now face the crusher.
