SINN Féin deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness MLA has reiterated his call for the immediate release of Derry republican Tony Taylor.
He was returned to prison last year on the word of the then Secretary of State Theresa Villiers who claimed, without providing any evidence, that he had breached the terms of his early release licence.
Speaking after meeting with Mr Taylor’s wife Lorraine, the Foyle MLA commented:
“Tony Taylor was returned to prison on the word of previous British Secretary of State Theresa Villiers without any evidence being presented.
“I have raised this matter directly with Theresa Villiers and her successor James Brokenshire.
“I will continue to do so because his arrest and imprisonment without recourse to due process is totally unacceptable.
“He should either be released immediately or brought before a court and given due process,” added Mr McGuinness.
