DETECTIVES have charged a 43-year-old with a number of firearms offences following an incident in Co Derry yesterday.
He has been charged with possession of a firearm or imitation firearm with intent to cause fear or violence and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.
It follows the arrest of a man in the wake of an incident at a house in the Mountsandel area of Coleraine yesterday.
Officers from the PSNI’s Armed Response Unit surrounded the house where the man was holed up.
As an arrest operation was mounted, police told local residents to stay in doors.
The 43-year-old is to face at Ballymena Magistrates’ Court tomorrow for a first remand hearing.
