THE PSNI in Derry are appealing for witnesses to come forward and speak to investigating officers following a brutal assault earlier this week.
The attack on a man took place in William Street during daylight hours.in the city centre.
A 37 year old male was assaulted and was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which are described as “serious but not life threatening”.
The incident happened at around 11.10 am on Monday, August 15.
But details about the attack have only just been released by police.
A PSNI spokesperson said there were no descriptions available of the assailants or any other information about the incident.
CCTV from the area and surrounding streets is being watched for possible clues to the attackers.
The spokesperson added: “Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault to contact Police at Strand Road PSNI on 101 quoting CCS1294 17/08/16.
“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
