SINN Féin Councillor Colly Kelly has welcomed the removal of a large wall in Creggan Heights following concerns it could collapse after an incident there.
He said: “There was an incident last week when a car hit the wall and left it in an unstable condition and there was clear health and safety concerns.
“Residents contacted me worried that young children were climbing on the wall.
“I contacted building control from the council on Tuesday morning and raised all those concerns.
“I want to praise the owner of the property who ensured that the wall was taken down as speedily as possible.
“There will be consultation with the families of the young lads on a mural which was on the wall so we can remember them when a new wall goes up.
