A HEARTBROKEN family is today making plans to bring home Tony Griffiths, a much loved father and husband.
The body of the 59-year-old was found at Five Finger Strand at Lagg on the Inishowen Peninsula just after 3 pm yesterday, Thursday, September 1.
Tony was found on rocks by the Rescue 118 helicopter.
His remains were removed to Letterkenny University Hospital where a formal identification was carried out.
Gardai confirmed last night that the remains where of the missing father and husband.
The recovery of Tony’s remains follows a massive search around the Inishowen Peninsula since Tuesday morning.
Mr Griffths, who was from Culmore in Derry, was last seen in the early hours of Tuesday morning last on the Isle of Doagh where he had been camping with his family.
When he didn’t return by 6 pm his family alerted the Gardai and a huge land, sear and air search was sparked.
Mr Griffiths had been making plans for his forthcoming 60th birthday party.
