MEMBERS of Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Planning Committee approved full planning permission for three applications totalling 169 dwellings.
They will be built at lands adjacent to Tullyally and Curryneiran, zoned as H24 in the Derry Area Plan 2011.
The development comprises of 169 dwellings which are mainly detached and semi-detached, with a new access off Tullyally Road, as well as areas of open space and an equipped play area within the site.
Members of the Planning Committee were informed at the meeting that one letter of representation was received in relation to the application and that all consultations with relevant bodies have taken place and been agreed-to, with conditions and informatives.
Speaking after the meeting, the Council’s Chief Executive John Kelpie said that the Council in its new role as the local planning authority, was pleased to play its part in the delivery of new housing in the city.
He said: “This proposal is an important development that will enhance this area and will contribute positively to the economic development and regeneration of Tullyally / Altnagelvin / Waterside and the city as a whole.”
Chair of the Planning Committee, Councillor John Boyle said: “This is a good news story for the City and District.
“It is providing much needed homes, as well as economic development, investment and construction jobs in the city.”
