A special event will be taking place this Friday as part of Culture Night aimed at adults with limited physical, learning and sensory ability.
The Energy of Light Disco will take place in St Patrick’s Hall, Strabane, a new concept being introduced as part of Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Access and Inclusion programme, supported by the Public Health Agency.
The event features old and new hits from Abba to Elvis with something on the playlist for everybody, and it promises to be a fantastic opportunity to enjoy some great music and meet new people.
The concept has already gained major popularity having been embraced by numerous local groups in Derry as the Black Moon Disco. The newly rebranded event is aimed at an increased target audience, and Council hopes to attract more people to the monthly outing.
Access and Inclusion Officer with Derry City and Strabane District Council, Louise Boyce, invited people to come along and enjoy the entertainment on the night.
“Our Black Moon discos have proven to be extremely popular and we are now hoping that even more people experiencing physical, learning and sensory limitations can come along and enjoy the experience.
“The Energy of Light Disco highlights Council’s commitment to developing an Access for All procedure, and in keeping with this, carers and parents will also be admitted for free to this event.
“I would like to encourage everyone to come along and meet new people in an open and welcoming environment, and just enjoy a great night’s dancing and craic.”
The action all takes place between 7 pm-9 pm this Friday, September 16.
The disco is just one highlight in a packed programme of events taking place across Derry and Strabane as part of the popular Culture Night celebrations.
Admission is FREE for this night only and everyone is welcome.
