SINN Féin Councillor Eric McGinley has called on Transport NI to prioritise the Ballymagroarty and Hazelbank estates as a response to a large number of street lights needing replaced.
Said Councillor McGinley: “I have counted almost 40 street lights out between Ballymagroarty and Hazelbank at this present time which is a situation which needs to be immediately rectified.
As the nights and mornings become increasingly darker the dangers to pedestrians and road users alike also increases.
I have brought this matter to the attention of Transport NI’s street lighting section and I have asked for an immediate response.”
