THE Western Trust has concluded its independent sector procurement process for domiciliary care provision, awarding 27 contracts to independent sector providers in the Western Trust area.
The Trust will contract with three independent sector providers in each of nine distinct geographical areas of the Trust. A total of 7 independent sector providers will be providing domiciliary care across the Western Trust area, in addition to the Trust’s internal provision.
Alan Corry Finn, Western Trust Director of Primary Care and Older Peoples Services said:
“We are pleased to announce that the Trust has concluded this tender process for domiciliary care provision in the West.
“The successful organisations will complement our internal ‘Homecare Service’ and help us to increase the productivity of the care provision across the Western Trust area.
“Contractors have been notified and we will now enter into Trust wide implementation plan.”
Domiciliary care provision in the West has presented many challenges in rural areas with increasing demand for services and more dependent people requiring more complex care packages.
Alan Corry Finn continued: “The contract period will run for three years with the provision for a further two 12 month extensions.
“The entire value of the 27 contracts range in value from £79 million to £97 million (over the 5 year period, with a review after 3 years).”
The Trust estimates a nine to twelve month implementation phase for the Trust wide implementation of the new contracting arrangements.
Current service provision will continue under the Trust’s present contracting arrangements.
The Trust will work closely with existing and successful providers during the period to ensure service users continue to receive their package of care and ensure the provision of an uninterrupted service during this transitional phase.
