SINN Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has welcomed the news that work on a number of issues is to take place in the greater Garden City area of Derry.

This will included new footpaths and trees getting cut back.

Councillor Cooper said: “The footpaths in Garden City have been neglected for a very long time.

“I contacted DRD Roads Service away back in November 2012 to see if they could carry out an inspection on the state of the footpaths.

“So I am pleased that the area from the junction of Culmore Road to Ballynasilloe Avenue is now getting a new footpath.

“And trees at rear of properties in Ballynasilloe Avenue are also getting cut back.

“It’s an issue I have been lobbying on now for some months.

“I relayed the concerns from residents and asked that a solution could be found to sort this out as speedily as possible,” he added.
