DERRY’S Johnny McDaid has got a permanent tribute to his partner Courteney Cox etched on his wrist.
The Snow Patrol rocker and the former Friends star broke off their engagement in November (15), after 18 months together, but rekindled their relationship in March 2016.
The couple and her teenage daughter recently to Derry for Johnny’s sister wedding and Johnny jammed at the wedding reception with Ed Sheerin the singer credited with getting McDaid and Cox together in the first place
It isn’t clear if they’re still planning to head down the aisle, but Johnny has already declared his love for Courteney in a lasting way by getting her initials tattooed on his inner, right wrist.
In a Instagram picture, he shows off the body art – of a regular “C” and backwards “C” interlocking – as he touches Courteney’s face, which is resting on his shoulder. In the caption, he writes, “Ta-two (sic)” following by a red love heart emoji.
The couple had remained tight-lipped about the break-up, but Courteney recently opened up to TV survival expert Bear Grylls, revealing they had different approaches to love and the split was “brutal”.
“We were engaged for over a year and then we broke up,” she recalled on an episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls, which aired in the U.S. last month (Aug16). “He’s from Ireland. And the way he regards love is precious. We have to treat it in a different way.
“It’s more special. You coddle it. So, I didn’t know how to regard love the way he does. And I definitely made a lot of mistakes that I see, whether it’s co-dependency or people-pleasing. I didn’t know how to bring it in. It was always external.”
She admitted she had learned a lot and became a better person following the break-up and because they’ve worked on improving “parts that needed the most attention”, the second time around feels new and different.
The couple are expected to tie the knot during a low key wedding in Los Angeles before holidaying in Ireland.
