SINN Féin Shantallow councillor Sandra Duffy is calling for the installation of traffic calming measures on the Racecourse Road at Ballyarnett Village.
It follows complaints about heavy traffic and speeding drivers
Cllr. Duffy said: “I have had numerous requests from residents of Ballyarnett Village outlining their concerns about the traffic situation on the Racecourse Road.
“Residents are understandably concerned about the volume and speed of traffic on this main road and the potential danger it presents for pedestrians – particularly school children and the elderly.
“We are requesting that Road Service undertake an immediate traffic volume survey to assess the form of traffic calming measures best suited for this road.
“The present situation is an accident waiting to happen.
“I have been in contact with Road Service requesting a site meeting to discuss possible options and am awaiting a response,” added Cllr Duffy.
