EVERY city and town has them but still some motorists don’t know how to get in the right lane when negotiating a round about.
This then leads to accidents, resulting in delays and exasperation for other drivers trying to head to or from work.
Now the PSNI in Derry have been giving some helpful advice on how to negotiate a round about in the right way.
The police’s first posting at the weekend was about negotiating a on a two-lane roundabout.
In a posting on its Facebook page, PSNI Foyle say: “Our last post about the roundabout situation seems to have created a bit of a stir…
“Firstly, I’m in the process of trying to secure resources to specifically focus on roundabout discipline in the near future…
“If you have specific areas of roundabout concern let me know and I can make sure they’re covered!
“Secondly, a lot of you raised a good point about 3-lane roundabouts like Caw/Madams Bank being pretty confusing… They most definitely are!
“SO – Here’s a quick guide on how to approaches/negotiate 3x lane roundabouts:
“If you’re in the left lane, your only options are to go left (Exit 1) or you can go straight ahead (Exit 2).
“The middle lane allows you to go either straight ahead (Exit 2) or right (Exit 3 or 4).
“However, you would be driving into the nearside lane of Exit 4 when you come off the roundabout!
“The right lane is for going right (Exit 4) coming off the roundabout in the offside lane, or alternatively, all the way round (Exit 5).
“Remember if all else fails, LOOK AT THE ARROWS ON THE ROAD!!!
“Also – going for a round trip on a roundabout is waaaay better than crossing lanes and causing a collision…
“Please like/share and hopefully we can keep down accidents/incidents on our roads/roundabouts!”
