THE line between fantasy and reality will become blurred at Bridie’s Cottage in the Craft Village this Halloween when it hosts an evening of songs, music and stories about the ‘Other World’.
Local traditional music expert and singer Brian Mullen says he wants to take his audience to “a twilight world of fairies, ghosts and goblins” at the intimate venue on Sunday October 30th.
Brian will be accompanied by traditional Irish fiddlers Roisin McGrory and Peter Tracey as the group performs songs and music that evoke imagery of the supernatural world.
“Halloween is a time when the line between our day to day reality and the Other World is easily crossed,” he said.
“Music and song is a particularly evocative way to connect to the twilight world of fairies, ghosts and goblins that runs alongside our real world.
“Bridie’s Cottage is a small, intimate old fashioned venue and is the perfect environment to help people picture that world.
“The acoustics mean there is no need for microphones and if people want to join in and tell their own stories and songs they are welcome to.
“The streets will be heaving with people on Monday night but we have timed this for Sunday evening when the village should be quieter and should help create a more eerie atmosphere.
“It should be a great way to help people get in the mood for the Halloween celebrations.”
Admission to the event is free and the show begins at 8pm with a 9.30pm finish.
