Roma Downey and husband Mark Burnett say they don’t back Donald Trump in his bid to be the next US President
DERRY actress Roma Downey and her husband Mark Burnett have hit out at US presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Mr Burnett, the executive producer of the US programme The Apprentice has now basically told former host Donald Trump: ‘You’re fired”.
The successful Hollywood couple have totally distanced themselves from Trump who has been engulfed in claims of sexual assault on a number of women.
The claims are hitting his campaign and polls in the US show he is now losing ground on rival Hillary Clinton to be elected the next US president.
“Given all of the false media reports, I feel compelled to clarify a few points,” said Mark Burnett.
” I am not now and have never been a supporter of Donald Trump’s candidacy. I am NOT ‘Pro-Trump,’” the president of MGM television and Digital Group added.
“Further, my wife and I reject the hatred, division and misogyny that has been a very unfortunate part of his campaign.”
Trump’s race to the White House campaign has come under severe pressure in recent weeks following allegations that he has been sexually assaulting women.
But he contends that the women accusing him of sexual assault are part of a scheme to help elect Mrs Clinton president.
