SINN Féin’s Raymond McCartney has said the uncertainty caused by Brexit will hit those on low incomes hardest.
The Foyle MLA said: “The Governor of the Bank of England has announced that inflation is a direct result of the financial uncertainty created by the recent EU referendum.
“He also acknowledged that it would be those on low incomes who will be hit hardest as the price of food and other goods inevitably rises.
“This, combined with the crippling austerity policies of the Tory government, is bad news for the least well off.
“It also highlights the fact that people were sold a pup by the Tories in relation to Brexit.
“It also underscores the need for the Remain vote of the people of the North to be respected,” he added.
