HALLOWE’EN is coming and local convenience retailer Centra is encouraging customers in Derry to donate their pennies to help them raise a fang-tastic £80,000 for Action Cancer.
Centra stores across Derry will take on a range of spook-tacular fundraising activities for staff and customers from October 24 to October 31 to raise funds for the local cancer charity.
The stores taking part are Moran’s Centra and Service Station on Strand Road, the store on Trench Road and the Centra supermarket on Culmore Road.
The funds raised by Centra staff and customers will benefit Action Cancer’s Health Action schools programme, which is sponsored by Centra and its independent retail partners across the North of Ireland.
Health Action aims to empower and educate children, young people and their families to make informed, positive healthy decisions.
Key messages include not smoking, eating a healthy balanced diet, keeping physically active and taking care of your skin in the sun.
Over the past 13 years, Centra stores have donated over £1 million to Action Cancer and their annual fundraising week is an important date each year to boost their fundraising total.
Customers are encouraged to support their local retailers over the week, enjoying the Hallowe’en madness of fancy dress, apple dunking, pumpkin carving and Halloween themed deli days.
Customers can also make the most of some spook-tacular offers and stock up on their trick-or-treat confectionary while making that all important donation.
Nikki McDowell, Centra Brand Manager said: “Hallowe’en is always an exciting time of year for Centra and a great opportunity for our retailers, staff and customers to join together and raise much needed funds for Action Cancer.
“Everyone who gets involved and donates is helping to support the education of children and young people across the North of Ireland about their health and well-being,” she added.
