HARD pressed ambulance crews in Derry are to get their vehicles and equipment upgraded.
It is part of an £8.7 million funding package from Finance Minister Mairtin O’Muilleoir to the Department of Health for essential maintenance and defibrillators for ambulances.
The funding boost has been welcomed by Health Minister Michelle O’Neill who said it will “undoubtedly save lives”.
The money will be spread across the Ambulance Service’s five depots which services the whole of the North.
The Western Division headquarters is based at Altnagelvin Hospital on Derry’s Glenshane Road.
