THE PSNI have praised the actions of members of the public who rendered first aid and assistance to those involved in a three vehicle crash in Derry yesterday afternoon.
Fire crews had to cut one woman free from her car during the collision involving two other vehicles on the Skeoge Road.
She was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital and fortunately she was not seriously injured.
Police have also wished her and all those injured or affected by the crash a speedy recovery.
On a post on its Facebook page, PSNI Foyle said: “Yesterday Ballyarnett Neighbourhood Team 👮🏻dealt with the 3 car crash on Skeoge Bypass.
“Firstly, we send out our best wishes and hope for a speedy recovery to all who went to hospital.
“Bad crashes can leave an impact both mentally and physically. Support in these following few days is essential.
“I write this post because I think an incident like this highlights the best of our Community.
“Before this picture was taken we had loads of the Public stop to provide First Aid and assistance before emergency services arrived, and as the picture shows we had Police 🚓 working to keep the area safe and start the Investigation.
“We had the Fire Service 🚒getting the casualty out of the car safely and Ambulance Service 🚑 waiting to provide immediate life-saving care.
“We also had recovery trucks out quickly to get the road open. Other members of the public waited around to speak to Police because they witnessed the incident and wanted to help.
“Sometimes I get annoyed 😡 when I see conflict and divisions in our city being played out in the media.
“That’s not the city I know and love ❤️
“Yesterday showed me that we live in a City where everyone will drop everything to help ANYONE in their time of utmost need. Regardless of Race, Religion, Orientation or anything else.
“That’s who we are.”
