THE brave volunteers of Foyle Search and Rescue were involved in three call outs over the weekend.
In the first incident, FSR were contacted a 1.53 am in the early hours of Saturday morning and alerted to a person who appeared to be in distress located close to the Rivers Edge.
“Foyle Search & Rescues Mobile Patrol responded immediately arriving on scene within minutes,” said an FSR spokesperson.
“They observed and approached an individual communicating with them and on making physical contact observed the person was injured.
“FSR First Aiders on duty contacted Northern Ireland Ambulance Service who responded to the scene.
“While awaiting the arrival of NIAS, duty teams treated the person for their injuries also treating for shock.
“PSNI attended the scene & the patient was transferred by Ambulance to Hospital.”
The second incident FSR responded was at 8.30 pm.
“Foyle Search & Rescues Emergency Response Team were tasked by the PSNI to assist in a search for a missing person.
“One Mobile Unit with four personnel responded.
“A zoned land search was commenced in the vicinity of Duncastle Rd andDullerton Rd with ERT using specialist Night Vision equipment.
“At 11 pm nearing completion of the zoned search the PSNI located a female & transported her to hospital.
“Search crews were then stood down & returned to base.”
And FSR sprung into action again last night, Sunday, November 21, following another alert.
Added the spokesperson: “At 9.48 pm on Sunday our Emergency Response Team were activated by Pager to reports of a cause for concern.
“Mobile crew along with all pager team responded. Mobile arrived on scene where the PSNI had located a female and removed her to a place of safety.
“ERT were then stood down.”
