PSNI chiefs in Foyle met at the Foyle arena with resident groups from across the city last night to discuss strengthening local partnerships.
The meeting was organised by the Derry and Strabane Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) as part of the ongoing promotion of and engagement with neighbourhood watch schemes.
There are currently 27 neighbourhood watch schemes in the Foyle area covering over 1,000 homes.
Coordinators thanked the local officers for attending the meeting and discussed issues such as police resources, visibility, traffic management and overall crime levels in the city and district.
Commenting on the engagement Chief Inspector Gordon McCalmont said: “As a team we welcome opportunities like this to hear directly from local residents and to let them know how valuable the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme is in terms of making local communities safer.”
