PSNI Foyle has launched its Regional Road Safety Campaign in a bid to cut the carnage on our roads.
The above picture shows a traffic cop checking speed on the Glendermott Road in the Waterside area of the city this morning.
So far this year 60 people died on the North’s roads.
As Christmas approaches, police want drivers to slow down, to take extra on the roads, not to drink and drive and not to use their mobile phones.
Campaign groups, elected members, voluntary sector, members of the public and students from local schools attended the launch which took place in the Alley Theatre in Strabane.
Police said the “great turnout” reflected the “commitment to keeping people safe on our roads.”
Earlier this morning, a local policing team officer from PSNI Foyle carried out a traffic operation around Good Shepherd Primary and Nursery School.
Police have asked drivers to park in the spaces provided and keep the speed down.
