THE PSNI in Derry are tonight warning motorists to drive carefully as another blanket freezing ice covers roads making for treacherous condition.
In one incident, Ballyarnett Neighbourhood Team were the first on scene at the old Rossdowney Road.
As their pictures shows, this car ended up on its side despite the driver behind the wheel saying “the car was being driven slowly and cautiously”.
“This road is now CLOSED,” PSNI Foyle say on its Facebook page.
“The driver is shaken up but thankfully has been able to walk away from this crash.
“Again, I’ve said this before but two members of the public, the Ambulance Service 🚑 and the Fire Service 🚒 have done our city proud tonight. (I’m not sure how much credit I can take as I went flying onto my back end as soon as I got out the Police Car! 😳)”.
Motorists should also leave plenty of time for their journeys on Friday morning.
They should make sure their windows are clear of ice before setting off.
They should slow down, drive in the appropriate gear for the conditions and stay a safe distance from the vehicle in front.
