CHAMPIONS……Slaughtnel are the Ulster Football Club Champions
SLAUGHNEIL GAC have been crowned Ulster Club Football Champions.
Two second half points from Shane McGuigan clinched the title, sending Slaughtneil into the annals of GAA history.
The south Derry side took a four point lead into the half time interval with a 0-9 to 0-5 score against Kilcoo at the Atthletic Grounds in Armagh.
It was always going to be an uphill struggle for the Co Down side.
Ceilum Doherty opened the scoring in the second half for Kilcoo.
On 36 minutes an O’Hanlon free cut the deficit to two points.
And two minutes later a Martin Devlin score made it a one point game.
But on 50 minutes Shane McGuigan got the first of his two points.
Doherty got another point closing the gap to one point before McGuigan got his second score on 53 minutes.
With three minutes of added time, a Kilcoo goal could have sealed it.
But Slaughtneil stuck to their game plan and ran worthy out champions.
They now go down in the annals of GAA history as being Ulster Football, Ulster Hurling and Ulster Camogie champions.
Well done Slaughtneil!!!
