THE CRIMINAL ADVENTURES OF ‘BILL AND TED’: TWO DERRY CAR THIEVES NICKED AFTER DITCHING STOLEN CAR

bill-and-tedPOLICE arrested two Derry car thieves after they ditched a stolen car and tried to leg it from chasing cops.

The drama unfolded on Friday night while one police section of Ballyarnett Neighbourhood team were dealing with a domestic incident.

During that incident a man was arrested after he ran at a woman with shovel not long after they got out of a taxi.

As he was being detained, another Ballyarnett Neighbourhood team were in hot pursuit of two men speeding around Cornshell Fields.

In the end, officers arrested the crooks they dubbed ‘Bill and Ted’, recovered the stolen vehicle and returned it to its rightful owner.

Here is how the police have reported the hilarious incident on its PSNI Foyle Facebook page:

“The last time I put a post up like this (03/10/16) I thought I would get my Facebook deleted but instead I ended up on the radio! 😀So I will have to stick my neck out again and share this story because it offers a classic insight into the criminal mind.

“So last night, as I’m dealing with that Domestic, the rest of Ballyarnett Neighbourhood Team 👮🏻were cruising round Cornshell Fields. Despite the ❄️ cold conditions a car sped past 🚗 driving erratically.

“When it became apparent that this was not an episode of Ice Road Truckers Police set off after them.

“Our suspects, let’s call them Bill and Ted, are known to us (we are a Neighbourhood Team – it’s our job to know our criminals) and they ditched the car and ran towards a house 🏡

“Police were just behind them shouting “Bill! Ted! Where are you going?”

“Bill does a full on Hot Fuzz and starts trying to scramble over back fences (you know the bit in the film 🎥 where the fence collapses😂).

“So Police casually walk down the pavement to the last fence in the row of houses and eventually LOW AND BEHOLD Bill flops over the last fence into the waiting arms of Police.

“Ted does even better!

“He manages to get to the 🏡door and slams it shut just as Police reach him.

“He opens the door 2 minutes later dressed in nothing but his Y-Fronts, claiming to have been in bed asleep all evening 🙄.

“But Ted” police respond “we just saw you slam the door on us 120 seconds ago” 😂

“It will come as no surprise that the car was stolen and that Bill and Ted were arrested for multiple offences and made admissions in interview today.

“Also we got the car returned to the owner 😊
