THE PSNI are appealing for information about the theft of defibrillator for the second time this month from a Spar shop in Co Derry.
The device was taken from the shop on Portstewart’s Coleraine Road in the town at around 4 am on Sunday.
Police have said that CCTV footage shows two men walking up and taking the defibrillator.
Local officers said it could cost up to £1800 and that the consequences of taking a defibrillator could be fatal for someone relying on it.
The defibrillator was stolen earlier this month but was returned after a short while.
Investigating officer Constable Halligan said: “This is a piece of life saving equipment placed there for the safety of the entire community.
“This is the second time this has been stolen this month, it has recently been returned and unbelievably people have decided to steal it again.
“This device cost £1,800 but the cost of someone in our community having access to it when it is needed, is priceless.
“The consequences of this could be fatal.
“If anyone saw this happen, please ring 101 quoting 463 dated 27/11/2016.”
