PSNI CHRISTMAS WARNING: KEEP YOUR HOMES AND CARS SAFE FROM THIEVES

xma-shopping-warningPOLICE are advising householders and car owners to protect their property from thieves looking to plunder valuable items and presents.

The PSNI in Derry say: “Protect your property while you are out shopping this festive season.

“Always remember to lock all windows and doors.

“Please remember also, that if you are out Christmas shopping, put your shopping bags, handbags or anything valuable in the boot of your vehicle.

“Out of sight of the nasty people who want to ruin everybody’s Christmas.

“Yes Christmas is just around the corner. Santa will be filling up his sleigh with loads of nice presents.

“But let’s not forget, to keep an eye out for our elderly neighbours and friends who might live on their own.

“There are still some nasty people out there who do steal or try and trick people out of their hard earned money.

“As a country that’s renowned for its kind and generous people.

“Let’s try and look out for each other and our neighbours.

“Instead of sitting on social media, finding out that “wee” Jimmy, got a new bike, or Siobhan has put on a little weight, because she’s just eaten 10 boxes of cupcakes in a row.

“Anything suspicious please ring 101.”
