DERRY City Football Club are delighted to announce that Diamond Corrugated will remain as the club’s main shirt sponsor for the 2017, 2018 & 2019 season’s.
It is the biggest sponsorship deal in the club’s history with the packaging company agreeing to an extremely generous six figure sum.
Paul Diamond, managing director of Diamond Corrugated, has not only been a life-long supporter of Derry City but was the Chairman of the club in the mid-90’s including the year Derry City last won the Premier Division title in the 1996/1997 season.
Diamond Corrugated have graced the front of the club’s jersey for six years now and to agree another three years means a lot to both Derry City and Diamond Corrugated.
Paul Diamond said: “The club means a lot to me and I am happy to have signed a contract for a further three years.
“My father was a big supporter of Derry City which triggered my passion, it’s the reason I chose red, white & black many years ago as the colours for Diamond Corrugated.
“The past six seasons have been somewhat up and down with regards to the success on the pitch but despite how well the team plays it still makes me very proud to be a part of Derry City through sponsorship and I look forward to continuing the relationship with the club and those involved including Philip (O’Doherty) and Orlaith (Meenan).”
Philip O’Doherty, Club Chairman is happy with Diamond Corrugated’s new deal: “I’m delighted with this new sponsorship deal from Diamond Corrugated.
“Paul Diamond has been supporting Derry City for over 20 years and I especially am grateful of his continuing support as we get ready to move into the new Brandywell next season. I would like to record our thanks and wish Diamond Corrugated continued success.
“Paul and I both came on board with Derry City in 1995, Paul as chairman and myself as vice chairman, he knows what’s involved in the running of a football club and the fact that he has agreed to another three years is fantastic.
“It’s more than a name on a jersey for Paul he genuinely loves the club and it’s great to see a local business on the front of the jersey.”
Orlaith Meenan, Commercial & Marketing Manager said: “I personally couldn’t ask for a better company to sponsor the front of the jersey, Paul is a tremendous business man and not only cares how we perform as a team on the pitch but has a keen interest in how we as a club perform off the pitch.
“I see him at every home game with his wife Mary and like most fans they support the team through thick and thin, they are extremely down to earth and a pleasure to deal with, which makes my job a lot easier.”
