THE Met Office has issued a yellow ‘be aware’ weather warning for more wind and heavy snow across Derry.
A blanket of snow has covered the city and across the county after cold weather front swept in from the Atlantice.
The yellow warning is in place until midnight on Friday.
Some roads have been left in a treacherous condition and police have been advising drivers to take care, slow down, drive in a low gear and drive with dipped headlights.
The Glenshane remains passable with care this morning however the stretch of road between Dungiven and Maghera is particularly hazardous with heavy snowfall restricting visibility.
The Roads Service said salting of roads on the “scheduled salting network” was completed on Wednesday night and is continuing on Thursday morning where required.
Major tourist attractions have been closed because of bad weather.
Springhill in Co Derry has been shut by the National Trust.
