British Army Technical Officers offloading a robot ahead of a controlled explosion on a suspicious object
BRITISH Army Technical Officers have carried out a controlled explosion during a security alert today in Derry.
A number of people have been moved from their homes at Earhart Park.
Part of the street has been closed following the discovery of a suspicious object in the area this morning.
ATO was tasked to examine the object.
This afternoon a white ATO robot carried out a controlled explosion on the suspicious item. The alert is ongoing.
The Shantallow Community Centre has been opened for residents who have been moved from their homes for their own safety.
