BURGLARY BID ON PAROCHIAL HOUSE WHILE PRIEST WAS SAYING MASS

POLICE are appealing for information over an attempted robbery yesterday evening.

The PSNI say a number of people tried to gain access to the parochial house at St Theresa’s Catholic Church on the Melmount Road in Sion Mills.

The robbery bid happened while parish priest Father Peter McLaughlin was saying 6.30 pm Vigil Mass.

A police spokesperson said: “If anyone noted any suspicious persons in the area please contact 101 quoting ref no 1198 18/2/17.

“We would ask that everyone remains vigilant and report any suspicious persons or vehicles to Police and remember to record number plates and descriptions if possible.”
