POLICE have appealed for information over the serious assault on a man in Derry city centre in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The attack happened in the Chamberlain Street area at around 3 am.
A man aged in his 50’s was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital with facial injuries following the assault.
The scene was sealed off for a time while it was examined by CSI experts before being reopened to traffic.
Detectives from the Reactive and Organised Crime Branch have asked for anyone with any information to contact them in Strand Road on 101 quoting reference number 217 18/02/17.
