PSNI Foyle has hailed a bike marking scheme yesterday in Derry a big success.
Officers from Ballyarnett Neighbourhood Team spent several hours marking bikes so that if they are ever stolen and later recovered they can then be returned to their rightful owner.
BNT said: “We marked 65 bikes at Templemore Sports Complex which have been put on the Bike Register.
“So if one of these bikes is recovered having been stolen it will be easy to track down the owner and get the bike returned.
“The marking also acts as a deterrent to would be thieves.
“It is a simple but effective idea.”
