DERRY City and Strabane District Council is only one week away from getting its five day programme for local business underway.
Beginning on Monday 6th and running until Friday 10th March, Enterprise Week 2017 will bring an exciting mix of advice from global business experts and activities to help inspire individuals and companies throughout the North West.
The 2017 Enterprise Week, sponsored by Virgin Media Business will centre on a number of topics to give support to local businesses and help them learn new skills.
The will include events on; female and social entrepreneurship, digital technology, innovation and food tourism.
The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Alderman Hilary McClintock, speaking ahead of the event said Enterprise Week is one of the key drivers in developing the local economy, she said:
‘This annual event is very significant to the city and district. It is not only an opportunity for Council and support agencies to become involved with local businesses but it is also an opportunity for businesses to further up skill, network, develop sales opportunities with contacts and engage.
She added: ‘There are inspirational experts available throughout the five day programme who boast a wealth of experience and are committed to sharing this knowledge with our local business community.
“I strongly recommend that anyone interested in starting or growing a business, consider Enterprise Week as an opportunity and free support tool to help you do so.

Business manager with Derry City and Strabane District Council, Louise Breslin, added: ‘The Business Team is very happy with the programme this year and the support we’ve received from our sponsors, Virgin Media Business.
“We intended to deliver a programme that contained a good variety of industry experts with direct experience in starting and growing a business and I believe this programme provides that.
‘Through our engagement with businesses we recognised an interest locally in developing innovation, tourism, start-up businesses and opportunities for SME’s to present to the public sector and big businesses. To assist with these key areas we have a fantastic array of key industry specialists, bespoke workshops and drop in sessions.’
Highlights and key speakers for Enterprise Week 2017 include talks and workshops by top industry professionals, Steve Wind-Mozley, Director of Digital at Virgin Media Business; Lara Morgan, entrepreneur, founder and former CEO of Pacific Direct and a Google Digital Garage expert who will all be offering essential skills and advice on how to make your business more visible online.
Steve will share his experiences and insights on how to make the most of digital marketing opportunities in business at the event titled ‘Release your digital potential’ at the Guildhall on Monday 6th March from 11am.
Lara’s talk at NWRC’s Foyle Theatre on Wednesday 8th March is a must for entrepreneurs. She is a very successful business women who established her business, ‘Pacific’ at age twenty three and went on to sell it seventeen years later for the sum of £20m.
During the event she will provide insights into how she found success and will be engaging with the audience to inspire and influence local entrepreneurs, keen to follow in her footsteps and achieve on a grand scale.
A Google Digital Garage expert will be offering two free workshops on digital skills on Monday 6th March at the Guildhall. The workshops on ‘Reaching new customers online’ and ‘Knowing your business with Google Analytics’ are a must for those seeking to expand their business online effectively.
All the events organised for the five day Enterprise Week programme are designed to help small businesses in the North West thrive and build closer relationships with customers and partners.
