THE Western Trust is say it was delighted to have facilitated the ‘Telling Tales Art Project’ funded by the Public Health Agency (PHA) and in partnership with the Waterside Theatre.
Over a period of 12 weeks members of the Waterside Theatre, assisted by two highly qualified artists, Hilary Doherty and Gemma Walker attended Greenfield Residential Home in Strabane to create and present a variety of workshops to residents. Freelance Theatre Makers, Sorcha Shanahan and Luke Blakeley assisted with music and drama.
Amanda-Jane Prow, Community Arts Officer from the Waterside Theatre said:
“We are delighted to have received support through the Public Health Agency funding which is administered by the Clear Project to allow us to deliver this exciting art programme with the residents and staff of Greenfield Residential Home.”
Workshops in visual art, drama and music were provided, giving the residents an opportunity to engage their creativeness; producing unique mosaics, hand sewn cushion covers and fantastic paintings.
The workshops allowed the residents to enjoy time socialising with staff and residents, all the while learning something new.
Alan Corry Finn, Director of Primary Care and Older People said:
“I am delighted that Greenfield residents along with the artists have worked together on such a positive, enjoyable and rewarding project, in which the residents’ works will be proudly displayed for everyone to see.”
