DERRY City and Strabane District Council’s 2017 Enterprise Week starts today, Monday, March 6, with a packed programme of events.
The council’s business team have organised the week-long programme of events and activities which runs until this Friday, March 10 which will focus on encouraging local businesses to learn new skills and to promote entrepreneurship.
A detailed programme of events has been organised for the 2017 Enterprise Week with a focus on a number of key themes including starting a business, digital technology, female entrepreneurship and food tourism.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Alderman Hilary McClintock said Enterprise Week is a hugely significant event in the city and district’s business calendar.
“Enterprise Week is a unique opportunity for Council and support agencies to engage with local businesses and assist them in up skilling, networking and engaging with one another about the challenges they face.
“The programme of events has been organised specifically to suit their needs by offering practical advice and assistance that will help them produce effective strategies for achieving growth and development.
“I would really recommend that local business owners and entrepreneurs take a look at the programme and avail of all the support on offer.”
She added that sponsorship from Virgin Media Business was a tremendous boost for the Council and a great endorsement for Enterprise Week.

“This year’s programme brings together a wide variety of leading industry figures who will be speaking about their first hand experiences in forging a successful path in the local business industry.
“The week long programme is full of highlights and key speakers including a talk, question and answer session and workshop with the Director of Digital at Virgin Media Business, Stephen Wind-Mozley.
“Stephen will share his experience and insight on how to make the most of digital marketing opportunities for your business.
“They’ll also be events centred on innovation, tourism, business start-ups and an opportunity for SME’s to showcase their business capabilities to an influential, public sector and big business audience at a ‘Meet the Buyer’ event.
